  • We are being evicted, our landlord served us three papers, each of which stated a different reason for eviction, loudness, smoking, non-payment of rent etc. Do her statements have to be consistent with one another? If so, can I use her inconsistency as a defence in court?
  • A windstorm took out several sections of the roof and about 50 feet of the brick wall that surrounds the backyard of the house I'm renting. How long dose the landlord have to fix everything? • Have Lived at the same complex for the past 3 years. The complex has new owners for the past several months. Old management used to give me (at my request) a copy of my check with the stamp and /or signature of received. Deadline to pay the rent is the 3rd of each month. Now the new management refuses to hand me a receipt before the 4th of the month. My question is, where is the proof that I handed the check to them in time to avoid late fees? There lot of rumors among neighbors that they are trying to scare people out to renovate more units and raise the rent. What are my rights? Thank you.
  • My grandfather is 91 and not expected to live much longer. He has a house valued at 60K but he owes 50K on it. The house is deeded to "the trust of..." Who gets the house upon his death and also, who is responsible for maintaining the payments? I am the executor of his will and current POA for him but there is no special provision regarding real estate. He does have a trust set up and we only have the "abstract of trust" that states who the trustee is upon his death.
  • I am having my first baby in 4 weeks. I would like to have my baby receive my boyfriends last name and have him listed as the father but i am concerned. If I do this will he be able to take the baby and not give her back ? Should i have some sort of custody arrangements in place before i put his name on the birth certificate? I am worried. Please give me some advice. Thank you.
  • Can a landlord that has no lease with the tenant file eviction for non payment of rent? Landlord does not maintain the property. It is a mobile home. There are safety issues that have not been addressed. There has been no communication from the landlord to the tenant.
  • My husband left and took all furniture and appliances/electronics. Long story short, the only things he left me are all the household/child expenses. He left over a month ago and has not helped or contacted me. We own a home and there is a joint tenancy deed between my mom, me, and my husband. What is the difference between a joint tenancy deed and community property?
  • I am on a lease until 9/08. I (88 yrs.) need to move to Florida for health reasons and to be with my sister. My daughter (61) is on the lease but is my caregiver and will take me to Florida. She will ultimately move to Oklahoma to be with her daughter after my demise. Can we legally cancel the lease with a certified letter and 30 day notice based on these elements? Thank you.
